XII Hungarian-Italian Symposium on Spectrochemistry
The Hungarian-Italian Symposium on Spectrochemistry, now in its twelfth edition, is an outstanding biennial event of the bilateral governmental programme for scientific and technical co-operation between Italy and Hungary, which ensures an inspiring forum for discussing results of human health and environmental protection studies.

Scope
The specific theme of this symposium is the effect of environmental pollution on human health. Major advances in sampling, sample preparation and analytical techniques will be presented in approximately thirty lectures. The posters will be exhibited continuously throughout the entire meeting. Besides Italian and Hungarian contributions, a number of talks will be also given, as usual, by outstanding scientists from other countries in order to enhance the coverage of the forum.
Location
The meeting will take place at the Headquarters of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences of Pécs, this latter being the most important centre of South-Transdanubian region with a pleasant sub-Mediterranean climate. The city was founded by the Romans who called it Sopianae. The most famous vestige of the Palaeo-Christian times (4th century) - when the city was called Cinque Ecclesiae - an Early Christian Necropolis with a rare cella septichora was included in 2000 in the World Heritage list of the UNESCO. The proof of the intense intellectual and cultural life of those times is that the first university of Hungary was founded in Pécs in 1367 by king Louis the Great of Hungary. Not only due to the conversion of the St. Bartholomew church into a mosque, but also because of its actual name, Pécs conserves the vestiges of the Ottoman rule, which lasted almost 150 years starting from the 16th century.
Registration
The registration fee of the conference is 350 euros, which entitles participants to attend the scientific sessions and the social programs (get-together party, excursion, banket) and to receive one copy of the Proceedings containing all contributions presented at the Symposium.
