The DSC of the new generation has a thermally decoupled heat flux sensor.
The thermal decoupling is gained by a sensor that are placed on thin-walled rings. These thin-walled rings cause a high thermal resistance between the heating- and sensor face. This construction has a very low inertia (time constant) and thus it enables a high resolution of successive reactions.
The flat heater is placed under the rings. Even with different temperatures the heater enables an absolutely homogeneous temperature profile ensuring a stable and flat baseline.
A high sensitivity of 1 µW and a calorimetric accuracy of +/-1% enable an exact determination of e. g. entalphies, specific heat, transformation temperatures, purity, crystallization behaviour, glass transition or melting behaviour.
The dynamic silver furnace with an optimum control behaviour enables heating rates of 100K/min and cooling rates of 50K/min.
The entire electronics works digitally and with an own 32-Bit processor system for the control and the recording of measuring data. The real special thing is the possibility to connect the system to the Ethernet which offers the possibility for a remote operation and for an external evaluation of the data. Here the communication is running via the TCP/IP protocol and the installed 10-Mbit/s Ethernet interface.
The professional 32-Bit software WinTA 9.0 runs under Windows®98, ME, 2000, NT4.0, XP. An extensive software accurately and efficiently deals with both routine tasks and comprehensive evaluations. Export functions as tables in ASCII and Excel format as well as a graphic file output in the formats BMP, JPG, TIF, EMF etc. enable a cross-platform work.
