  • Development of analytical methodologies for elemental speciation in environmental, food, and biological samples using hyphenated techniques (CE-ICP-MS, GC-ICP-MS, and HPLC-ICP-MS).
  • Development of analytical methodologies for the speciation of Arsenic applied to samples of nutritional and toxicological interest. This project is being carried out during the postdoctoral research stay at US. FDA/FCC on 2003-2004 period.
  • Sample preparation studies for elemental speciation (Solid-phase microextraction (SPME), Solvent extractions, Ultrasound assisted extraction, etc.).
  • Development of on-line extraction/preconcentration techniques coupled with several detectors (ICP-OES, ICP-MS, UV-Vis spectrometer, GF-AAS and FAAS) for the analysis of trace elements.
  • Development of extraction/preconcentration techniques using non-ionic surfactants for the analysis of trace elements using several detectors (ICP-OES, ICP-MS, UV-Vis spectrometer, GF-AAS and FAAS).

The analytical techniques used for research on elemental speciation and total determination have involved a great variety of different instruments including, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, ES-Ion Trap MS, AAS, ETAAS, AFS, HPLC and GC. General instrumentation is also available at US. FDA/FCC.
