Sample preparation: UV Digestion |
Used in conjunction with the TEA3000V, PDV6000 or PDV3000, the UVI3000 (Ultra Violet Digestion System) allows analysis of such difficult samples as red wine, urine, beverages, etc. The UVI3000 is a stand-alone benchtop instrument which breaks down organic complexes in aqueous samples to release metals into solution. Typically it will break down strong complexes (eg EDTA) within 20 minutes irradiation time. UVI 3000 Ultra Violet Digestion System A known aliquot of sample is pumped through a silica quartz spiral tube surrounding an ultra-violet light source. The wavelength of the U.V. source has been optimised to produce Ozone in the sample as it travels through the spiral. The Ozone oxidises and removes organic compounds from the sample, which releases trace metals for analysis. The optimum speed for the sample through the U.V. cell is programmed on the keyboard.
