Welcome to the September issue of EVISA's Speciation Newsletter !
Last month we shared some concerning news: fraudulent science is growing faster than legitimate research. Protecting scientific integrity means spotting such work early and avoiding citations to unreliable results. To help with this, weve created a short guide on how to recognize questionable studies (see news item below). The guide highlights common warning signs and offers simple tools for checking suspicious publications.
At EVISA News, youll only find trustworthy studies. We carefully select the work we highlight for its quality, innovation, and relevanceand do our best to keep dubious publications, journals, or events out of the EVISA portal.
Speciation analysis may no longer be the hot topic it once was, but it continues to drive important advances in instrumentation and methods. In fact, many improvements in ICP-MSlike higher sensitivity and faster measurement timeswere motivated by the demands of speciation research. We believe this field will remain a driving force in the years ahead. To illustrate this, weve prepared a feature on recent trends in speciation analysis, showing how the challenges of speciation continue to inspire new developments (see news item below).
One key trend is the growing interest in elements beyond the traditional toxic classics such as arsenic and mercury. A good example comes from this months highlighted study: Phosphorus Speciation Analysis Using Ion Chromatography Coupled with ICP-MS to Investigate Transformations on Reactive Surfaces. In this work, a US-Irish research team developed a robust method for phosphorus speciation. By combining ion chromatography (IC) with ICP-MS, they achieved highly sensitive detection and quantification of phosphorus compounds, enabling detailed studies of transformation pathways on reactive surfaces used in wastewater treatment.
With the holiday season behind us, were looking forward to a number of exciting conferences and symposia on trace element and speciation analysis. Youll find the details in the EVISA Agenda of Events.

DIRECTORY
|
| |
| |
|
EVISA's directory of scientist is a versatile tool to facilitate contact with scientists in the field of speciation and related sciences. The directory is fully searchable for names, addresses, research topics etc. You should bookmark this directory as an always up-to-date address book. (In order to hinder SPAM robots for collecting the E-mail accounts, we hide them in a special format).
More than 300 active scientists in the field of speciation analysis already joined the directory. Join this great directory that is extensively linked to all type of other information on this site, such as homepages, conferences and literature.
If your entry is still missing in this directory, please contact us at info@speciation.net.
