The company was set up in 1995 by Prof. Sam Li of the Department of Chemistry of the National University of Singapore (NUS) together with his colleagues as a spin off company of NUS Holdings under the NUS Technopreneurship scheme. The company has since grown and has shifted to a new commercial complex in Ayer Rajah Industrial Estate 2 years ago. The company designs, manufactures and supplies capillary electrophoresis (CE) instruments in modular systems for biochemical and chemical analysis. CE is a modern analytical technique that uses narrow-bore fused silica capillaries to separate a wide range of large and small molecules, such as DNA, proteins, carbohydrates, drugs and inorganic ions. It is the enabling technology behind the recent success of DNA sequencing and the human genome project. We currently have two major product lines, a Portable CE system CE-P2 and a Desktop CE system CE-L1. Built on our proprietary technology, CE-P2 is currently the only portable automated CE system in the world.
