National Analysis Center for Iron & Steel ��NACIS��is analytical organization in third party which provides public services. It is one of the 13 national comprehensive analysis centers which approved by The Ministry of ScienceandTechnology of PRC in 1984 year. NACIS located in Central Iron & Steel Research Institute and is same organization as the Analysis and Testing Institute. NACIS includes chemistry Lab. physics Lab., mechanicsLab.,Nondestructive testing Lab , metrological center etc. NACIS has four functions, which are routine testing center, arbitration center, training center, and testing technique research respectively. NACIS has always been implementing the quality guidelines of science, equity, accuracy and high efficiency. NACIS has developed the chemical analysis, physical testing, mechanics testing, nondestructive testing, metrological verification, comprehensive quality evaluation of material, development of certified reference material, analysistechnicaltraining,consultation of Lab. Design, scientific research, establishing and improving of standard, compiling of journal ��Metallurgical Analysis�� and so on. NACIS mainly goes in for the routine analysis, failure detection of material, defects analysis technique, special material safe evaluation, appraisal of material and arbitrative analysis.
NACIS has obtained the metrological certification by the China State Bureau of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine, and get accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment, has approved NADCAP as material testing laboratory by PRI, has certificated of approval supplier for chemical analysis by Rolls-Royce plc. NACIS has show the top position in several national and international laboratory proficiency test.NACIS now possesses abundant resources. There are 150 professional employees, and 80 of them are of middle or high title of technical post. There are about 30 doctors and masters. The capital assets is about 30 million Yuan. NACIS has 800 sets of analysis equipments, Among them, 130 sets belong to advanced analysis instruments.
For 50 years, NACIS has completed 300 national important research projects, 60 items among them have obtained national or provincial science progress awards. 17 national patents have been applied, and 80 books published. NACIS also has presided and taken part in 150 national metal material analysis and test standards, and established the GB/T 223 Iron and Steel and Alloy Chemical Standard System. All these above achievements have played an important role in the development of Chinese metallurgy technology, the study of new material and the successful execution of national momentous projects.NACIS enrolls doctors for metallurgy engineering specialty and masters for analysis chemical and material subjects. NACIS trains large numbers of persons with of high ability every year.
The secretariat of Iron and Steel and Alloy Chemical Content Analysis of the National Iron and Steel Standard Committee, and the Analysis and Testing Branch, of the China Metal Association are all set up in NACIS .After nearly 50 years development, NACIS has already become the arbitrative center for analysis, the leader for analytical technique, the cunabula of studying and spreading the new metallurgy technique and trainning professional persons, and the important industry base of developing the metallurgy analysis standard and modern metallurgy analysis instruments.
