Description

The Journal of the American Ceramic Society contains records of original research that provide or lead to fundamental principles in the science of ceramics and ceramic-based composites. These papers include reports of the discovery of new phases, phase relationships, processing approaches and microstructures that relate to ceramic materials and processes.  The papers establish the links between processing, structure characterization and properties of ceramics, including modeling approaches that are founded on basic mechanisms. Short papers for rapid publication are published as Communications and full-length papers as Articles.  The published reports must be of enduring value and relevant to the field of ceramics. Papers on all aspects of ceramic science are welcome including those in the following areas:

  • Powder preparation and colloidal science
  • Processing science
  • Nanotechnology science
  • Catalysis
  • Glass science
  • Structure characterization (atomic level to nano- and microstructural scales)
  • Crystal chemistry
  • Defects, diffusion, phase transformation, phase equilibria, thermodynamics, kinetics, chemical and thermal stability
  • Microscopy and microstructure
  • Mechanical, electrical, optical, magnetic or thermal properties of ceramics and glasses
  • Ionic conductivity
  • Bioceramic science
