Description
|
Apatite concentrate (ca. 50 kg) originating from Kola Peninsula (Russia) was sieved through the 0.125 mm sieve. The material was further homogenized by mixing in a plastic drum and after passing preliminary homogeneity test (XRF) was distributed into PE bottles in 50 g portions. Final homogeneity testing (F-test) was performed by instrumental neutron activation analysis, analyzing several subsamples taken from 6 individual bottles chosen at random and comparing the results for 6 subsamples taken from one bottle. Comparison of results for Co, Cr, Fe, La, Sc and Th obtained in the two series of measurements confirmed good homogeneity of the material, at least for sample weight of m„d100 mg. All the steps of preparation were performed in conditions preventing contamination with metals. Certification was done on the basis of world-wide intercomparison in which 58 laboratories from 17 countries participated using various analytical methods and techniques. Data evaluation was performed by means of software package SSQC. Several criteria were also employed to decide whether the overall mean can be given the status of recommended (certified) or information value.
