Description
|
Potassium is one of the three fundamental nutritional elements necessary for plant growth. Potassium fertilisers are applied to crops either as chloride or as sulphate, depending on the particular crop. Potassium chloride is most widely used.
The material was taken from a batch of commercial potassium sulphate obtained by the reaction of sulphuric acid with potassium chloride produced by Mines d'Alsace (F). The potassium chloride obtained from the raw sylvite was separated before from sodium chloride in a precipitation process. About 150 kg the potassium sulphate material were finely ground to obtain a particle size of less than 150 µm. |
