X-ray spectrometer: XRF |
for RoHS compliance screening and quality control
The Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) comes into force 1st July 2006. It will severely restrict the presence of Pb, Hg, Cd, Cr 6+ and Br (PBB & PBDE) in electrical and electronic equipment.
In order to ensure product compliance, manufacturers, suppliers and even recyclers must perform verification testing on all components. The best measurement technique for RoHS compliance screening is handheld XRF.
Oxford Instruments launches the new XMET3000TXR - a fast, lightweight X-ray tube based analyzer for rapid and reliable RoHS compliance screening, designed specifically for measuring heavy metals in plastics, solder materials and printed circuit boards.
The Oxford Instruments handheld X-MET3000TXR is a fast, reliable and non-destructive tool for RoHS screening compliance of plastics and other electronic components. X-MET provides quick quantitative analysis of all restricted elements; Pb, Cd, Hg, Cr and Br.
Various different materials can be measured with one instrument; cables, PCB's, components, plastic housings, solder material, fasteners etc. X-MET can also be used as a quick on-site quality control tool to analyze various other elements like Ag, Cu, Bi etc from solder and Cl, Ti, Ca, Zn etc in plastics.
RoHS screening with X-MET provides immediate results and avoids delays generally associated with lab analysis. Fast results allow a large number of samples to be tested. Measurement data is easily transferred to a PC by wireless connection for further inspection and report generation.
