A cross-discipline application of the autosampler is as a Fraction Sample Unit (FSU) for preparative chromatography. By means of a dual-channel sampling probe and additional changeover valves mounted directly on the autosampler, samples can be taken selectively and in a second step the fractions can be collected. The built-in dual-channel peristaltic pump serves both to transfer the sample and rinse the capillary.
