Detail Information: Dynamic Mechanical Analyzers have become an essential tool used in the study of polymeric materials, both synthetic and natural. These instruments measure the stiffness and damping characteristics of a material with respect to temperature, frequency or time. This is achieved by applying a small sinusoidal stress to the sample and measuring the resulting displacement. The sample is mounted in an environmental chamber, with a temperature range -150 to 400 ℃. Frequency, strain amplitude and temperature can all be varied during an experiment. DMA is a characterization technique and applied stresses are small, so as not to alter the material being analysed. The simplest and most common experiment involves a single frequency (often 1 Hz) thermal scan at a fixed strain amplitude. Storage and loss modulus, tan delta, storage and loss stiffness, force, stress, displacement and strain are available as a function of temperature and frequency.
The DMA - SMART Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer (DMA) sets a new standard in terms of ease of installation and use. However, as with any DMA, primarily the sample will dictate how the instrument should be operated to produce the best results. Choosing the correct geometry, strain amplitude, frequency and heating rate will enable most polymeric samples to be run with success. An awareness of the changes occurring in the test sample, the stiffness range of the system and the effect of frequency and strain amplitude will improve the users' ability to optimize their results.
1. Multiple Orientations The unique design - be used in any orientation i.e. Horizontal, Vertically upwards/downwards.
2. Adaptable Geometry The adaptable geometry disc allows us to choose optimum sample length according to sample type and condition. 18 length selections, 1~17.5mm for Single/Dual Cantilever and max. 22.5mm for 3 point Bending, are available.
3. Easy To Use Cryogenics The DMA-SMART has cryogenic cooling capabilities built in as Standard. Temperatures as low as -190°C can easily be reached using less than 2 liter of liquid nitrogen(Control down to -196°C is possible using the optional environmental chamber.).
4. Humidity Control Humidity Control Unit allows users can measure the stiffness and damping characteristics of a material with respect to humidity(upto relative humidity 80%).
5. Material Pockets Mechanical/chemical characteristics of powder sample can be measured with DMA-SMART.
