Mixer Mill MM 301
Retsch mixer mills MM 301 are particularly suited for dry and wet grinding of small quantities of material. The mills are ideal for mixing and homogenizing powders and suspensions. They are excellently suitable for disrupting biological cells as well as for the isolation of DNA and RNA. The instruments are used in the field agronomy, biology, biotechnology, chemistry, ceramics, glass, medicine, pharmaceuticals, criminology, environment, mineralogy, metallurgy.
Advantages
- Quick and efficient size reduction with a homogenizing effect
- High sample throughput due to short grinding times and two grinding sites
- Higher grinding energy due to enlarged swinging radius
- Automatic centering of grinding jars for easier, quicker and easy grinding jar replacement
- Screw-top jars guarantee full material recovery with dry and wet grinding
- Reliable wet grinding without loss of material
- 20 samples can be processed for DNA/RNA analysis in one single operation
- Suitable for cryogenic grinding with liquid nitrogen
- Grinding time and oscillation frequency are digitally preset
- Memory keys for 3 standard working programs
- Setable parameter lock
- 2-year warranty, CE marked
Grinding in the mixer mill is effected through the impact of the balls on the product, homogenization by the shaking movement and the motion of the balls inside the jar. The jars execute radial oscillations in a horizontal plane; the result is that the balls impact the sample from alternate sides. The oscillation frequency can be set at any level from 3 to about 30 Hz. (= 180-1.800 rpm). During the entire grinding process, an electronic speed control compares the actual speed to the preset value and keeps it constant. The grinding and mixing period can be preset digitally for 10 seconds to 99 minutes; with the last setting retained in memory for subsequent trials. The unit is powered by a high-performance motor. Equipped with electronic brake the unit will reach a standstill in less than 1 second after the Plexiglas safety cover is opened. Opposing action of the jars ensures stability even at maximum oscillation intensity.
