The Instrument
The ESA Model 3010B Lead Analyzer consists of two components—sensing and electronics. The sensing unit includes a test electrode, a stirring assembly and two electrodes that carry current and regulate potential. This process is the heart of the ASV system. The electronics unit controls the analysis cycle, sorts the electronic signals and calculates the results.

The Reagents

Proven ASV Method for Accurate Results
Anodic Stripping Voltammetry is a highly precise, virtually interference-free method. Whole blood is added to the reagent (Fig. 1), where the lead is freed (Fig. 2). Lead in the sample is concentrated on a thin-film mercury/graphite electrode during the plating step of the analysis cycle (Fig. 3). The plated lead is removed from the electrode by the stripping step (Fig. 4) and measured by the integration of the current peak resulting from its rapid electrochemical reaction. The peak area, obtained in the stripping step, is a measure of the amount of lead present.
Method Correlation
Results from the Model 3010B Lead Analyzer have shown close correlation with the widely accepted graphite furnace methodologies. This is further supported by results from numerous proficiency surveys. The Model 3010B provides the sensitivity you need for the detection of blood lead in childhood lead screening, industrial hygiene and occupational health monitoring programs.
