Our work The Inspectorate for Health Protection and Veterinary Public Health carries out its tasks by means of surveillance, tracking down violations and targeted information. Besides the General Inspectorate in The Hague, there are 5 Regional Inspectorates: North, East, South, North-West and South-West. With its approximately 900 employees, the Inspectorate for Health Protection is the largest Specific Enforcement Body in the Netherlands. In addition to their regular activities, each Regional Inspectorate carries out a special task with regard to a selected product area. These areas of special interest support the national surveillance and enforcement policy. Each Regional Inspectorate has its own laboratories. Samples taken by inspectors can be examined within a short period of time. This organisational form makes quick and targeted intervention possible, thus contributing to consumer protection including public health.
