The Institute of Agrochemistry and Food Technology (IATA) is a research centre belonging to the Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) , autonomous body of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology . Objectives IATA objectives are basic scientific research and oriented scientific research in the Food Science and Food Technology area. These objectives are supplemented with activities of technological support to the industry and scientific and technical education. Research lines The research lines actually developed in the IATA are the following ones: - Development of new production and enzyme separation processes in Food Technology.
- Genetic improvement of industrial yeasts.
- Quick methods for the identification of bacteria and yeasts.
- Functional foods: lactic bacteria as probiotics and oral vaccines.
- Basic studies on bread fermentation and their influence on the bread quality.
- Biochemistry, microbiology and technology of cured meat products.
- Canned vegetables by minimal thermal processing.
- Sensorial quality and physical properties of foods.
- Container-food interaction.
- Postharvest technology of fruits and vegetables.
- Trace elements and their chemical forms in proccessed foods.
These research lines are implemented through Research Projects financed by the Spanish National Research Programme, the European Union and the local government (Comunidad Valenciana), as well as by specific Research Contracts signed with Industry.
