The International Microwave Power Institute (IMPI) was founded in 1966 to serve the information needs of specialists working with dielectric (microwave and RF) heating systems. In 1977, the Institute reorganized to expand its industrial and scientific base to meet the information needs evolving in consumer microwave ovens and related products.
IMPI's special interests include scientists, researchers, lab technicians, product developers, marketing managers and a variety of other professionals interested in the industrial, scientific, medical, instrumentation, food science, and other applications of microwave/RF technology. From these broad interest areas come the focus of the Institute's educational, information, and service programs for its members.
IMPI's interdisciplinary approach to issues, education, programming, problem solving and membership is its key strength. By combining science and engineering with practical development and marketing, the Institute encourages technical advancement both in the laboratory and in the field.
The Institute provides support to its members through three basic vehicles including meetings and seminars, technical and information publications, and special service assistance programs.
