LAUDA DR. R. WOBSER GMBH & CO. KG is today one of the leading manufacturers of thermostating and measuring instrumentation in the world. Born in Dresden Dr. Rudolf Wobser established the one-man business MESSGERÄTE-WERK LAUDA Dr. R. Wobser KG on 1st March 1956. The founder was a physicist - the engineer Karlheinz Wobser and the natural scientist Dr. Gerhard Wobser represent the second generation of the family business. Towards the end of last year Karlheinz Wobser retired and bowed out as managing director and company member. In July 1997, the son of Dr. Gerhard Wobser, Dr. Gunther Wobser, also joined the company. The business manager graduate initially took on the role of marketing manager supporting the successful development of the thermostating specialist. The appointment of Dr. Gunther Wobser as managing director settles the question of successor and sees the family company passing onto the third generation. Dr. Gunther Wobser will focus on the profitable area of laboratory thermostats, Dr. Gerhard Wobser the heating and cooling systems as well as measuring instruments. Dr. Gerhard Wobser and Dr. Gunther Wobser intend to work in tandem to prepare the ground during the next few years of transition.
What once was a one-man business has over time grown into a medium-sized company with over 210 employees and an annual turnover of approximately 25 million euros. Excellent engineering of outstanding quality and a customer-first approach are the secrets of the success for the typical family business. A practical focus on detail, ongoing technical development and a pronounced awareness of quality demands have assured for almost half a century the success of the product range which fulfils the highest demands. LAUDA devices are the result of a systematically planned product development process. They are characterised by a high level of engineering, reliable quality and long service life. Design is governed by ergonomic knowledge and economical manufacturing processes.
