Products: Acting responsibly in all business sectors
We develop, manufacture and distribute more than 15,000 products: pharmaceutical active substances and drugs, chemicals and laboratory products. In order for these products to benefit society in the way intended, Merck ensures that they are safe to handle during their entire life cycle, both for humans and the environment. This policy was made binding for the Merck Group (Merck Quality Policy).
At Merck, product responsibility begins with research and development (R&D). The company’s R&D site in Darmstadt accounted for around half of the investments. The headquarters houses the central facilities, in particular the complete infrastructure for preclinical and clinical drug development, as well as many other departments necessary for research activities, such as the Regulatory Affairs and Patents departments. Our achievements in research and development mean that we can offer products that contribute to improving quality of life and the environment.
