This facility was established in order to provide our European clientele with the same high level of service offered to our US clients. Working closely with our headquarters staff, Shiva Europe utilizes the same well developed analytical techniques backed with excellent customer service. Available techniques include: Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry (Three VG-9000|s) and Interstitial Gas Analysis for N & O determinations.
Accreditations: ISO 9001:2000
Analytical Techniques
Shiva Technologies, Inc. employs a variety of analytical techniques in order to investigate the elemental make-up of inorganic solid materials.
Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry — GDMS is an extremely powerful tool for performing trace and ultra-trace elemental analysis on inorganic solid materials such as metals, semiconductors, ceramics, carbides, graphite, etc. As a direct solid sampling technique it is capable of reaching detection limits far below most other analytical techniques.
Inductively Coupled Plasma/Optical Emission Spectroscopy — ICP/OES is used primarily for the determination of the major component concentrations that make up an inorganic compound such as alloys, compound semiconductors, and crystals.
Interstitial Gas Analysis — These techniques are designed specifically to determine the levels of included gases in a solid sample. Carbon, Sulfur, Nitrogen, Oxygen, and Hydrogen can all be determined to levels down to 1 ppm.
Optical Microscopy — Microscopy is used as both a stand-alone tool for investigating material structure and in conjunction with GDMS to determine the influence of sample morphology on analytical results and to determine the nature of impurity distributions.
