A professional society that fosters the understanding and application of vibrational spectroscopic sciences: infrared, near infrared, Raman and chemometric methods used in these spectroscopies. Through the voluntary efforts of its members the society sponsors scientific conferences, creates symposia for research presentations, provides social activities to stimulate informal discussions and participates in the four awards that recognize excellence in vibrational spectroscopic research. (Coblentz, Williams-Wright, Bomem-Michelson, and Lippincott).
The society is a non-profit organisation founded in 1954.
