selFrag stands for Selective Fragmentation, a electric pulsed power process which employs high-voltage (HV) discharges through solids for their fragmentation, disintegration or disaggregation. In contrast to electrohydraulic processes, the electrodynamic fragmentation works with the much more powerful and highly efficient direct discharge forming a plasma-channel that induces a disintegration along grain boundaries, inclusions or impurities of the material. In comparison with the traditional mechanical crushers the selFrag process liberates morphologically intact minerals with virtually no by-production of fines. The laboratory fragmentator selFrag-Lab is a user-friendly and compact device for the use in laboratories specialising in construction materials and geotechnics, research institutions, laboratories in the mining, oil and gas industries, and government geosicence and raw materials agencies.
