TOPTICA Photonics, in cooperation with PicoQuant GmbH, has developed a high power pulsed laser source for the red and infrared wavelength range. The system combines a pulsed seed-laser (PicoQuant laser heads LDH 750 to LDH 1080) and TOPTICA's tapered amplifier TA 100 in a Master Oscillator Power Amplifier arrangement (MOPA). The PicoTA produces light pulses as short as 50 ps at an adjustable repetition rate, with amplification of the master laser peak power by more than a factor of 10 (maximum peak power 30 W @ 780 nm). The system has been conceived following TOPTICA's modular design philosophy and is available as a complete system as well as an upgrade for existing laser sources. An additional second-harmonic generation module to provide laser pulses in the green spectral range is currently under development.
