Interests:
Speciation Analysis, especially of tin, selenium and arsenic in environmental and biological matrices. Participation in intercomparison and certification exercises for the EU.
Utilization of industrial byproducts. Extraction of scandium and lanthanides from red mud in laboratory and pilot-plant scale.
Preparation and Characterization of powders and coatings of superconductors (YBCO, BSCCO, MgB2).
Trace element analysis by voltammetric, spectroscopic and hyphenated techniques.
Size fractionated sampling (PM10/PM2.5) of airborne particulate matter and determination of heavy metals and other elements by spectroscopic (INAA, ICP-AES, XRF) and voltammetric techniques.
Instrumentation:
Voltammetry (Differential Pulse and Square Wave Cathodic and Anodic Stripping Voltammetry), 746 VA Stand/ 746 VA Trace Analyzer, Metrohm
ICP-AES, Jobin Yvon, Ultrace 138, coupled with the corresponding Hydride Generation Cassete (Jobin-Yvon).
AAS 3300, Perkin Elmer coupled with MH 10 Hydrid Generator.
