The Scientific Committee welcomes contributions to "The Fifth International Symposium on Modern Principles of Air Monitoring (Now Including Biomonitoring)" covering the latest developments in exposure assessment and strategies as well as analytical air sampling and measurement/monitoring methodologies. Biomonitoring, when relevant in connection with air exposure and measurements, will also be addressed. All contributions should present results of their latest “unpublished work” or "cutting edge" information and thus, hopefully contribute to a high powered state-of-the-art conference on the subject. The tradition of this conference of assigning a prominent and central role to poster presentations is to be maintained.
The Organising Committee welcomes cutting-edge presentations focusing on:
- Exposure assessment - sampling strategy
- Speciation of exposure
- Monitoring methodologies - continuous monitoring
- Pumped and diffusive sampling of organic and inorganic gases
- Sampling of inorganic, organic and biological aerosols
- Sampling of mixed phases
- Uncertainties - Quality of Measurements
- Biological monitoring - biomarkers of exposure
By contrast to previous AIRMON and most other meetings, FREE short courses (2 hours duration) will be offered to all participants during the meeting. We are planning to organise 16 short courses, three to four in parallel each day, as part of the conference. This new concept is meant to stimulate participants to learn more about the theoretical and practical issues, as well as obtain insights into the recommendations of specialists.
The last day of AIRMON is planned to be focused on peak exposure strategies and measurements to build a bridge between AIRMON and a Nordic Institute for Advanced Training in Occupational Health (NIVA) course on Peak Exposures and Human Health following the conference (June 16th -19th).
As for previous AIRMON meetings, papers presented as posters or lectures may be submitted as full papers for publication in a special issue of Journal of Environmental Monitoring (JEM), subject to the normal review procedures.
The conference venue will be the Hotel Alexandra located in the most beautiful Fjord and Glacier Districts of Norway. The hotel is recognised as one of the best conference venues in Norway. We can guarantee that participants will not quickly forget the extraordinary beauty & hospitality of this region.
The AIRMON participants are expected to arrive at the hotel Saturday, June 11, and to travel home, either Thursday after lunch or Friday morning June 17.
