For the first time, the Goldschmidt Conference comes to the southern hemisphere, in Melbourne , Australia in 2006. Australia 's unique, plate-scale natural laboratory has driven a rich tradition of geochemical, experimental, cosmochemical and isotope research, from the extraordinary archives of past climate of the Great Barrier Reef to the oldest known terrestrial materials of Mount Narryer and Jack Hills .
