The conference is the continuation of a series of successful symposia focusing on various issues related to the presence and function of toxic or essential trace elements in food. The previous two TEF conferences were held in Rome (2008) and Aberdeen (2011) and attracted worldwide experts from different disciplines to present recent results and discuss all aspects of trace elements in relation to food, with special emphasis on the biological effects of trace elements.

The TEF-5 program will consist of several topical sessions initiated with key-note lectures from renowned experts, followed by oral presentations on recent developments in the area. The conference will also include a poster session and an instrument exhibition at the same facilities, which allows further scientific highlights and the most recent technical advances to be presented.
