Sofja Kovalevskaja Programme for outstanding young scientists and scholars
(12.01.2004)
Recipients of the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award will be granted funding up to a total of EUR 1.2 million during the period of 2004 to 2007 to conduct research of their own choice.
In 2004 the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation will grant the Sofja Kovalevskaja Award, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to benefit young scientists and scholars from abroad with outstanding research records. The aim is to give award-winners an opportunity to concentrate on high-level, innovative research work of their own choice in Germany, virtually without administrative constraints, in order to promote the internationalization of research in Germany. The award is intended to enable its winners to finance their own work-groups at German university and non-university research institutions of their own choice and to cover their living expenses.
