2/07/2005 Thermo Electron Corporation (NYSE:TMO) has recently moved the development and production facility for its Advanced Mass Spectrometry (MS) instruments into a new, purpose-designed building in Bremen, Germany.
This new "European Center of Excellence for Mass Spectrometry" includes state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities for Thermo's world-leading line of advanced mass spectrometers used in life sciences, earth sciences, environmental control and industrial analysis. The instruments cover a number of applications in proteomics and drug discovery, food control, trace elemental analysis in the semiconductor, medical and environmental sectors, environmental target compound analysis including dioxins, climate research and geological and planetary research. Thermo's new facility will also be used for instrument demonstrations, customer training, and significant R&D efforts as Thermo continues to innovate.

This new building fulfils many important needs for Thermo - not only is it a state-of-the-art manufacturing site, but it is also an excellent destination for customer demos and for our R&D efforts as we continue to innovate."
The new application laboratory in Bremen features instruments for five product lines: Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance MS, Organic Sector MS, Isotope Ratio MS, High Resolution Inductively Coupled Plasma MS, Thermal Ionization MS. It has also a clean lab for semiconductor applications and a conference center. The facility provides room for future growth for over 200 employees in an attractive high technology environment.
Since 1948, Thermo has introduced numerous innovative products from its former Bremen facility. These introductions include the Finnigan TRITON, Finnigan NEPTUNE and Finnigan DELTA Mass Spectrometers, as well as the leading Finnigan LTQ FT Mass Spectrometer. In addition to the site in Bremen, Thermo's German manufacturing locations include Karlsruhe, Erlangen, Oberhausen, Ulm and Wermelskirchen, as well as Thermo's commercial office and application laboratory in Dreieich.
