Model 341 is a universal and general-purpose precision Polarimeter with Na and Hg source lamps and Glan-Taylor polarizer. It is a highly versatile instrument for research applications as well as for quality control work. The instrument can be extended into the UV and is ready for polarimetric HPLC detection. The Model 341 Polarimeter uses the proven optical null principle with automatic rotation of the analyzer, which has been the basis of PerkinElmer's reputation for excellence in polarimetry. This principle is combined with state-of-the-art microprocessor electronics to produce an instrument offering the highest possible accuracy and precision with simple operation and handling.
Specifications: Built-in mercury and sodium lamps, wavelength selection by turret-mounted filters (589 nm (NaD), 578 nm, 546 nm, 436 nm and 365 nm spectral lines). Four spare positions for additional mercury line filters. Two selectable aperture stops for standard cells and microcells. UV-transmitting Glan-Taylor calcite polarizer prisms. Microprocessor electronics. Optical null system with automatic rotation of the analyzer, range of rotation +/- 85°. Internal angular resolution: 0.0001°. Display of results in angular degrees, as specific or molar rotation or in °Z of the International Sugar Scale and with user defined factors. Automatic gain control, digital signal averaging with 10 selectable integration periods. Menu-oriented user interaction via integrated touch keys, multilingual. The instrument includes a parallel and a serial port (Centronics and RS-232C) for the connection of printers and data systems, an interface for a PC/AT keyboard and a barcode reader and an analog output for chart recoders (four recording ranges). GLP compliant report. Additionally, the instrument provides inputs and outputs for hardware control signals.
