The core product of SLS MICRO TECHNOLOGY is the world’s smallest gas chromatography module GCM 5000 which is almost credit card sized.
Components
All fluidic and electronic module components are placed on an integrated multi layer printed circuit board. Standard gas connectors, micro injection system, micro machined separation column and thermal conductivity detector give a full functional chromatographic system. Fast micro controller, high resolution A/D converter, large memory capacity and standard interfaces allow for high sensitivity of measurement, fully automated operation as well as stand-alone interpretation and rapid transmission of results.
Attributes
Not only the module dimensions could be scaled down by magnitude through consistent usage of micro system technology (MST/MEMS). At the same time energy and media consumption are highly reduced. Through mean power requirements batteries or solar modules may be used for electric feeding and a handy 200 ml gas bottle becomes sufficient for the carrier gas supply of months of continuous operation.
Value
Besides direct cost advantages because of minimal dimensions i.e. for sheltering in outdoor applications or savings in energy and media consumption, the GCM 5000 allows for the first time fully mobile and unlimited self-sufficient applications so that completely new fields of application become attainable for gas chromatography.
