Mass spectrometer: ICP-MS |
The first benchtop ICP-MS, the HP 4500 was to become the most successful ICP-MS platform ever produced with more than 750 shipped in a five-year period. Only the Agilent 7500 Series has surpassed this record with more than 1000 units shipped in a 4 year period – Agilent’s reward for its continued program of research and innovation.
Automated Instrument Tuning Taking a giant step forward in operator convenience, the new HP 4500 Autotuning software package offers full software control of the plasma position along with the ability to automatically and simultaneously adjust and tune the instrument for three masses. This software can optimize the system across the full mass range, producing better sensitivity and detection limits across the entire periodic table. Automated Environmental Testing ICP-MS EnviroQuant is another new expert system embedded in the HP 4500 ChemStation system software. It was designed to increase the productivity and reporting accuracy of environmental laboratories analyzing metals in wastes and waters by ICP-MS following EPA Methods 6020, 6020-CLP and 200.8. Major features of the EnviroQuant software package include QC Manager, a database preconfigured with all EPA-mandated QA/QC sample types, and Smart Sequencing, an intelligent sequencing program that evaluates QA results in real time, makes appropriate decisions and takes actions based on those results. The EnviroQuant software generates and stores specific QC reports, including a QC summary report that lists any failures that may have occurred during a sequence.
