The MSSJ, one of the oldest mass spectrometry societies in the world, was established in 1953. It has been providing an array of scientific data on relevant topics for more than half a century. Our sphere of interest covers a wide range of sciences, including chemistry, biology, physics, engineering and the emerging field of informatics. Combining these diverse realms yields innovations in every aspect of measuring the masses of atoms and molecules, as well as subsequent applications. We are delighted to be involved in this exciting field which provides greater challenges than other spectroscopic and analytical methods.
The MSSJ is a national community. However, we recognize the importance of exchanging knowledge on a global level, since the ideas of our current 1200 members are obviously limited. Fortunately, we have the privilege of hosting the 19th International Mass Spectrometry Conference 2012 in Kyoto. Setting this meeting as a visible goal, we are now endeavoring to enhance communication with other countries and areas through every possible means. Any inquiries and proposals on this issue will be greatly appreciated.
