The Brazilian Society of Physics was created during the XVIII Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC) held in Blumenau, Santa Catarina. The act of foundation was held on July 14, 1966 in the hall of the Municipal Library Fritz Muller. The participants of this meeting, among them researchers, school teachers and physics students were called to the same individual by letter sent to all members of the industry's physical SBPC.
