In keeping with all the good and lovely things in the world, the Forensic Sciences Society of India (FSSI) had a humble beginning, in the year 1978, under the banner of “Forensic Science Study Circle”. The founders of the ‘Study Circle’, Prof. P. Chandra Sekharan and a handful of devoted forensic scientists nurtured it to grow into FSSI, a registered scientific body, international in scope. Thus, the long cherished dreams of the forensic scientists in India became a reality. Registered in the year 1979 under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act 1975, the society has, as members, forensic scientists, pathologists, police surgeons, police officers and lawyers. The society vows to promote and protect the profession of Forensic Science and to protect the interests of Forensic Scientists in India. It aims to project and promote the use of scientific aids in unraveling the mysteries of crime through its journal and by conducting seminars and symposia and strives to function as an independent advisory body, on all matters of Forensic Science. Befittingly the Society has selected an appropriate couplet from the ancient work on Ethics “Thirukkural” composed by the world-renowned Tamil poet, Thiruvalluvar as a motto to be included in the logo designed for the Society.
