The SmartProbe raw material analyzer is the most versatile system for determining the acceptability of raw materials. This Analyzer is ideal for 100% raw material identification programs.
The SmartProbe identifies pharmaceutical raw materials, excipients and actives, directly in the shipping container. Interchangeable probes permit the SmartProbe to perform liquid measurements as well.
The SmartProbe brings raw material testing out of the laboratory and into the receiving area. Now, plant personnel with minimal training can perform sensitive tests for chemical identity, acceptability, or quantitative measurement in less than a minute.
The SmartProbe is user calibrated for actives and excipients of interest. A lightweight SmartProbe collects the chemical spectra of powder or liquid samples using near-infrared (NIR) light, and informs the operator of product identity and quality within seconds. The technique is so robust that most materials can be tested right in the shipping container, sometimes right through the unopened plastic shipping liner.
This system replaces wet chemical testing with a clean, non-destructive technique that is fast and portable. NIR is rapidly winning acceptance worldwide because it eliminates lengthy sample preparation, hazardous reagents and environmental problems associated with conventional test methods.
The SmartProbe can help pharmaceutical makers achieve Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing goals, reducing quarantine times from days to hours or minutes, and shrinking warehouse costs significantly.
The system can also provide useful new data: information on particle size, impurities, moisture and more, which may be ignored in standard compendia tests. The SmartProbe becomes a first line of defense in making your process run smoothly.
Fast, Validatable Decision-Making A visual indicator on the SmartProbe gives the operator a clear indication of results after each test. At the same time, an automatic printed report is generated.
When coupled with a good vendor certification program, the system can provide Accept/Reject decisions in minutes, without the need for further testing.
Rugged Construction, Simple Operation The SmartProbe is ruggedly built to give outstanding service with repeatability, accuracy and precision in today's factory environment. And thanks to a sensible ergonomic design, it's easy to use: just make contact with the sample and pull the trigger.
Unlike FT-IR instruments, SmartProbe spectral results are unaffected by probe vibration and instrument movement. A unique, patented rapid-scanning grating monochromator, patented optical probe tip, and high-energy throughput fiber bundle all give the SmartProbe System an unmatched signal-to-noise ratio and extreme long-term stability. Built-in diagnostics assure consistent, reproducible performance and thus continued validation.
Fast Payback and Environmentally Responsible By replacing a routine HPLC test method with the SmartProbe, one pharmaceutical manufacturer reduced an annual 5,000-hour HPLC testing load to 117 hours. With efficiencies like this, purchase pay back can take place in months. But the savings don't stop there. Environmental savings complements these savings. NIR is a "green" technology: it consumes nothing and the sample remains completely uncontaminated. There are no solvents, hazardous reagents, costly columns or other consumables and nothing to dispose of after the test.
