Repeatable LIBS elemental analysis requires full control over the many factors influencing LIBS: breakdown position, energy density on the sample, environment, light collection, spectrometer timing, etc. The Crossfire™ and Insight™ systems are designed to bring you the full control you need with a single- or double-pulse LIBS configuration. On-board video, laser timing, spectrometer timing and software control of laser spot size are only a few of the standard features of the Crossfire™ systems. Insight™ systems allow microanalysis, with ablation spot sizes as small as 5 micrometers, and a broadband echelle spectrometer coupled to an intensified camera for sensitive detection of multiple elements in a single laser shot.
The Crossfire™ is the backbone of a flexible LIBS system that can be configured for single or dual pulse operation (see above), quickly and with high repeatability. This enables users to apply and compare both analytical methods and to reproduce many set-ups referenced in existing publications. Timing between laser pulses is controlled via Crossfire™ timing electronics and software or through the spectrometer itself if equipped with this feature. Imaging, lighting and targeting of samples is supported by means of the on-board video microscope and electronics controlled via the Crossfire software. The Crossfire can be supplied with broadband Ocean Optics spectrometers, echelle spectrometers, or highly sensitive Czerny-Turner spectrometers. Single-Pulse Crossfire™
The workhorse of the laboratory, a single-pulse Crossfire™ is ideal for rapid material analysis for major and minor species in samples of all types. Available with broadband diode array or intensified camera detectors, these systems are coupled with Photon Machines’ addLIBS™ software to make excellent analysis tools. Single-pulse systems are easily upgradable to double-pulse systems
Double-pulse Crossfire™
Double-pulse LIBS has been shown to increase detection limits for many elements, in some cases 1-2 orders of magnitude. The Crossfire™ systems provide a flexible double-pulse LIBS platform, allowing pre-pulse and post-pulse configurations. These systems are available with a variety of Nd:YAG laser wavelengths and an array of spectrometers, including broadband diode array or echelle spectrometers, depending on the application.
