Micro Flow Cell The new Micro Flow Cell assembled from silica and sapphire has been designed for precise spectroscopic measurements with smallest volumes. The Micro Flow Cell is designed with zero dead volume in the flow path. This, and the narrow (0.5 mm) bore of the cell keep sample volumes very low (1 micro liter per 5 mm optical path length).
All wetted surfaces are silica and sapphire. The Micro Flow Cell can be operated at pressures up to 3000 kPa and can be used with the strongest solvents available (HPLC). Besides its use for UV/VIS spectroscopy (250 - 750 nm) the cell is ideal for use in NIR spectroscopy (750 - 2500 nm).
As an option the Micro Flow Cell can be equipped with a Peltier element used to thermostat the flow cell. The micro controller and power electronics integrated into the cells housing allow an automatic temperature control through the Peltier element.
diagram of the Micro Flow Cell In order to remote control the temperature of the Micro Flow Cell it can be connected to a PC via a RS232 interface. The cell can be easily changed when necessary where the optical path length reproducibility between cells is 0.01 mm.
The Micro Flow Cell is coupled via standard fiber optics (250 - 600 µm core diameter) to the available UV/VIS or NIR spectrophotometer. For the fluid connection PEEK fittings for 1/16" tubing with an inner diameter of 0.5 mm are used.
Typical applications are analytical lab and on-line methods in the pharmaceutical-, chemical-, and food industry i.e. spectroscopic detectors for HPLC und Electrophoreses as well as lab and on-line UV/VIS/NIR spectroscopy.
As an option a micro pump can be supplied.
