Bulgaria has implemented EU Directive 94/62/EC on packaging and packaging waste in its national legislation. The most important aspect of the legislation for producers in non-EU countries is that the content of heavy metals is restricted in packaging materials. Publication date: April, 2007

Lead (7439-43-9), cadmium (7440-43-9), mercury (7439-97-6) and
hexavalent chromium (18540-29-9)
Requirement: Maximum sum of concentrations of lead, cadmium, mercury and hexavalent chromium in packaging is 100 ppm
Status: Existing legislation following the EU legislation.
