CBI: Germany legislation: Chromium in leather and textile products (additional requirements)
Taking the general product safety requirements into consideration, Germany strongly advises that the hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) content of leather articles does not exceed 3 ppm. Although Cr(VI) itself is not used in the leather tanning process, it can be formed from Cr(III). In this document, more information is provided on this German requirement.
To learn how to prevent Cr(VI) contamination of your products please use the external links listed on the right side of this page.
