Description
|
Butyltin and phenyltin compounds in freshwater sediment The sediment material was collected in a side arm of the North Sea Canal at Nauerna (Morthwest of Amsterdam, The Netherlands), which is not in direct contact with the sea (the chlorine content in this area is around 1 g/L, which justifies the "freshwater" appelation). The wet material was dispatched to the Institute of Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM) in Geel (Belgium) for processing and bottling. The wet material was dried at 6o°C in Teflon-covered stainless steel trays in a drying oven, then crushed using a crusher with a stainless steel jaw and finally sieved (< 1mm). Since the material had a very high initial moisture content, it was necessary to repeat the drying and crushing procedure several times.
