The 9th ICOBTE is dedicated to the exchange of recent advancements in the biogeochemistry of trace elements. Biogeochemistry has developed into an interdisciplinary science, linking phenomena observed in the biosphere to physical and chemical reactions in the pedo-, hydro- and lithosphere. The conference provides a forum for professionals, regulators, and students to present their most recent findings and to discuss with colleagues from around the world state-of-the-art methodologies, analytical techniques, and process development.

Main theme of the conference

  • Speciation, bioavailability and advanced analytical methods
  • Deficiency of trace elements in food systems and human health
  • Heavy metal contamination and ecosystem/human health
  • Regulatory and policy dimension of metal contamination
  • Advances in remediation technologies for metal contaminated sites
  • Eco-toxicology of metals and risk-based management of metal contaminated environments
