With the acquisition of Steins Laboratorium A/S Eurofins establishes its no. 1 position as the market leader in food testing in Scandinavia and expands its key competence within testing of milk and dairy products. A significant part of the overall deal concerns outsourced activities of the former owners, the Danish and Swedish dairy and farming industries.
Steins Laboratorium was founded in 1857 and is a well-established
brand in Denmark and Sweden for laboratory testing of food, feed and
agriculture. It has a unique position as a service provider for the
dairy and farming industries. Analytical services are provided within
chemistry, microbiology and veterinary serology.
Steins runs highly specialised and automated laboratories in Denmark
and Sweden. In addition, the company has been established in Poland
since 2002. Steins employs more than 180 employees and generated
revenues of over € 15 million in 2005.
One year ago, Eurofins already acquired the environmental laboratory
of Steins. With the acquisition of the remaining and larger food part
of Steins, Eurofins has strengthened its position as the clear market
leader in laboratory testing in Scandinavia with over 700 employees in
Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
