Interests:
  • Development of new and improvement of existing plasma excitation sources (e.g. Static high sensitivity ICP [SHIP], miniaturised barrier arc discharge plasma [ADP], microwave induced plasma [MIP])
  • Development of small, robust, cost effective and easy to use analytical speciation instruments (e.g. Automated Speciation Analyser)
  • Hyphenation of different techniques
  • Adsorbable organically bound halogens (AOX, EOX, POX)
  • Total / dissolved organic carbon (TOC)

Instrumentation:
Highly sophisticated equipment for instrumental analysis and analytical quality assurance is available in the working group Analytical Chemistry in Muenster:

  • Inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES),
  • Inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometryy (ICP-MS) hyphenated with GC and HPLC
  • Several AAS systems (Flame and Furnace)
  • Microwave digestion system
  • Several Gaschromatographs equipped with electron capture detector (GC-ECD), mass-selective detector (GC-MS), atomic emission detector (GC-AED),
  • High performance liquid chromatograph (HPLC),
  • Capillary electrophoreses (CE),
  • UV-spectrometers,
  • IR-spectrometers and many more techniques and methods for analytical and quality assurance related measurements.
