Interests:
  • Microbe-mineral interactions, in particular the mechanisms of precipitation, transformation and dissolution of iron minerals by iron(II)-oxidizing and Fe(III)-reducing microorganisms
  • Microbial formation of reactive iron minerals and their reactions with inorganic and organic pollutants
  • Redox activity and microbial reduction of humic substances
  • Redox reactions between  iron minerals, humic substances and arsenic
  • A possible role of photoautotrophic Fe(II)-oxidizing bacteria in the deposition of precambrian iron deposits, i.e. Banded Iron Formations
  • Effect of Fe(II)-oxidizing bacteria on the co-precipitation of arsenic with iron minerals on roots of rice plants
