The versatile 3520 features the flexibility of sequential analysis while providing the stability of a simultaneous instrument -with typical analytical speeds of up to 10 elements per minute, Time consuming peakseek routines are eliminated through a unique fixed diffraction grating system, resulting in superior speed and accuracy, Perfect in the general purpose laboratory the 3520 OES for today and tomorrow. The 3520 ICP uses a fixed grating and strips of steel tape with exit slits at every 2 mm on the focal curve. Fine adjustment of the analytical wavelengths is done by a free-of-loose displacement of the entrance slit with the aid of a high-precision stepping motor. The sequential measurements of the free-selectable analytical wavelengths are accomplished by one of the two photomultipliers which can be moved at high speed along the focal curve. The selection of the exit slit, the displacement of the entrance slit, the selection and positioning of the photomultiplier and the presetting of the electrical parameters are controlled by a computer and can be done for any line within 1.5 s.
