Model 343S Polarimeter
The Model 343S is a dedicated instrument version of the Model 343 for the sugar industry and for process monitoring applications. It is equipped with a Hg source lamp for measurements at 546 nm.
The Model 343S Polarimeter uses the proven optical null principle with automatic rotation of the analyzer, which has been the basis of PerkinElmer's reputation for excellence in polarimetry. This principle is combined with state-of-the-art microprocessor electronics to produce an instrument offering the highest possible accuracy and precision with simple operation and handling.
Specifications: Automatic precision polarimeter for measurements at the 546 nm line of the mercury spectrum. Optical null system with automatic rotation of the analyzer, range of rotation +/- 400 °Z (+/- 85°). Internal angular resolution: 0.0001°. Display of results in °Z of the International Sugar Scale or in angular degrees, as specific rotation or as molar rotation. Automatic gain control, digital signal averaging with 10 selectable integration periods. Menu-oriented user interaction via integrated touch keys, multilingual. Built-in mercury lamp and interference filter for the 546 nm spectral line (green mercury line). Two selectable aperture stops for standard cells and microcells. High quality film polarizers. Microprocessor electronics. The instrument includes a parallel and a serial port (Centronics and RS-232C) for the connection of printers and data systems, an interface for a PC/AT keyboard and a barcode reader, and an analog output for chart recorders (four recording ranges). GLP compliant report. Additionally, the instrument provided inputs and outputs for hardware control signals.
