Sample introduction: Ultrasonic nebulizer |
Ultrasonic nebulizers are used to improve detection limits in ICP over those provided by pneumatic nebulizers, achieving a 10-50 fold improvement for most elements. Advances in USN technology have greatly improved the performance, reliability and ease of use over early models, which required cumbersome water circulators and suffered from transducer burn up. The USN-700 Ultrasonic Nebulizer, like its predecessor the USN-557, is designed to enhance sensitivity in ICP-OES and ICP-MS analysis. The original compact design is now even smaller with the USN-700, and the ease of use and accessibility of the glassware components, major advantages of the USN-557, are maintained. In addition, the USN-700 adds the capability of our unique Matrix Matching RF (MMRF) system to the transducer drive. This allows the USN-700 to compensate for changes in sample matrix, such as acid composition or dissolved solids, without need for extensive matching of standards and samples, thus reducing errors from poorly matched standard and sample matrices. The new USN-700 uses 4 peltier modules for the condenser, compared to the 2 sets used by other systems. These enhancements result in the lowest detection limits of any ultrasonic nebulizer.
Innovations in this new model include a more efficient nebulization process, and better sample desolvation. A longer, more efficient heater allows better vaporization of high boiling solvents such as H2504 solutions.
