The Tekran® Series 2600 system allows the analysis of ultra-trace levels of total mercury in liquid samples. It offers unparalleled sensitivity and flexibility for those who require truly sensitive total mercury analysis.
The system can implement a wide range of different analytical techniques, depending on the requirements of your particular application. Unlike conventional systems, the Series 2600 is available in a wide range of configurations, with options to suit your budget. The system can perform virtually any type of ultra-trace total mercury analysis. Series 2600 modules can be interconnected by the end user, allowing easy migration from a starter system to a fully automated, high throughput configuration. Each module is described in greater detail on its own page, below.
The instrument is capable of providing a fully automated implementation of the new US EPA Method 1631. This method is capable of measuring waters with a detection limit of much less than the required < 0.5 ng/L (ppt).
- Sensitivity measured in parts per quadrillion. Typical MDL: <0.1 ppt1
- Atomic Fluorescence based: Greater sensitivity, selectivity and dynamic range than AA based systems
- Unprecedented modularity and flexibility
- Capable of multiple methods:
- Direct reading
- Single stage gold preconcentration
- Dual stage gold preconcentration
- Works with stannous chloride or sodium borohydride reduction

Model 2600 - System Control Module
This module functions as a single or dual stage preconcentrator/thermal desorber and detector. By itself, the unit is suitable for analyzing manually collected field cartridges and for other gas phase applications. The preconcentrator can also be used with your existing liquid/gas separation system.
The module is available either with or without an internal fluorescence detector. You can use your existing Tekran Model 2500 detector with the system. An internal high resolution (24 bit) A/D convertor can be specified to allow digitization of the detector output.
Model 2610 - Liquid Handling Module
This module adds a peristaltic pump, allowing the system to analyze ultra-trace levels of mercury in liquids. A high efficiency phase separator is clipped to the side of the System Control Module. to separate the gas and liquid phases of the analytical system. This module can also contain an internal, two channel wash station pump to provide recirculating flow to the wash station used with the automatic sample changer (below).
Model 2620 - Sample Changer Module
The auto sampler provides full automation for the system. A recirculating rinse station is highly recommended and is housed in the Model 2510 module described above.
Data Acquisition & Control
The full featured Tekran-MDS Windows® based system provides full analytical sequencing, auto-sampler control, data acquisition, peak integration, calibration and QA/QC functions. Results may be easily exported to spreadsheets or LIMS.
Heater & Scrubber Stations
Each of the two Heater stations can be populated with any of the following cartridge or dryer types. A single Scrubber station is also included to hold your drying agent.
Tekran can supply heaters customized for virtually any type of cartridge. Each heater station has the ability to supply variable heating power, allowing warming of the cartridges during the adsorb phase.
